In a comparative perspective, we analyze the role of degrees and skill-testing in the successful integration into French and Quebec companies of immigrants who already have a strong professional qualification. We rely on the stories of 42 skilled immigrants telling us about their migratory process as well as their career paths. Our analysis shows that although degrees and skill-testing remain important in both cases, they are not assessed in the same way in the two contexts.
